Saline-filled implants are made of semi-permeable silicone elastomer shell with a single valve on the anterior surface of the implant. All the FDA-approved saline implants are filled at the time of surgery. So, beware of the pre-filled saline implants, as they might not offer higher safety standards.

The outer covering of silicone-gel implants is similar to the saline-filled ones. However, silicone-gel implants come pre-filled with a semi-solid material called silicone gel.

Depending on the woman’s preference, the implants can be placed either over or under the pectoralis muscles of the chest wall.
